....Do a quick search of the US Copyright Office website. As you can see, almost every episode since 1956 had it's copyright renewed.

Lum, Be careful with "The Jack Benny Show". Some episodes sold on PD-TV-on-DVDs are not actually public domain. Registered under the title "Jack Benny", the Frankie Avalon episode is still under copyright, not only because it's copyright was renewed, but because it was publshed in 1963 with a copyright notice.

Of course, there are shows like "Dusty's Trail" which have somehow fallen through the cracks (mainly because of the low quality of the show itself, and because the production company hasn't existed for years)
